Wasting time applying for jobs that don’t exist.
So it looks like this is going to be an ongoing saga. What is it that makes people offer a job and then turn around and say, “Oh, let me just reiterate that there is no money involved.”
So here is a quick guide for those potential employers who are hoping for a little well written free content:
- If there is no pay-it’s not a job
- I am not interested in working for:
- “opportunities to meet porn stars, discounts
at our stores and various other perks or forms of compensation. “ - “The prize is eiu dollar, precise in 0.01 eiu dollar”
I still don’t know what an eiu dollar is worth at today’s exchange rates, but I know i don’t want any.
Which brings me to this particular tirade:
In order to see if you are a good fit for our publication, we are asking
that you send in a writing sample of 1200 words using the attached
documents you would normally get to write a feature story for us. I
have attached a tech sheet, which gives detailed information about the
car, and photos of the vehicle. I have also attached a sample story for
you to get an idea of our writing style. If you are still interested,
please submit a writing sample.
You must be fuckin’ kidding. I already fell for that one once.
So to number three on the guide:
3. I do not write free samples for a publication I am unable to find on the internet, cannot get an answer to my phone calls and that has no listed address.
