Mark P Knowles :: Don't Panic !

Well - it has been a while since I updated my personal blog much - mainly because I don't make much money with this and it is mostly a bit of fun. Blogging can actually be fun - one of my favorite posts "Mark Knowles is a douche bag," allows me to poke fun, not just at myself, but anyone else who comes across my radar as being poke worthy. Of course - some people take a joke better than others and I usually manage to overstep the mark.

I was spending a lot of my online time at hubpages until recently, but the recent google panda update has decimated hubpages' authority with google and decimated the earning potential also. Oh well - C'est la Vie, as we say in France. I always say that if you want to make money blogging, you need to diversify, and while I had invested considerable time and effort into hubpages, I also have quite a lot of outside interests - some of which have benefited from the recent changes. There is something to be said for 60% of your content not being complete garbage after all.

By the time hubpages had finished cleaning house, I have a feeling they will have deleted half the site, removed all religious nonsense, "weight loss majik berry," crap, " run you car on water," spam and "how to make a fortune overnight forex trading" - and maybe it will regain some of it's former glory. I certainly hope so, because it has been a great place to publish for peopel outside those writing what Rupert Murdoch wants written.

Personally - I think those days are gone and Big Daddy G was pressured into this change by the big media boys. Oh well - C'est la Vie. This is not the first time a lot of people lost money with a google algorithm change and it won't be the last - that is what happens when you rely on search engine traffic. All good fun and as long as we can adapt and analyze the new paradigm - we should be fine.

Once again, Big Daddy G has made some drastic changes to their search engine algorithm. It looks to me as though there have been two lots of changes - one at the beginning of May and one at the end. And I say "drastic" because I have seen some drastic changes to the ranking sof some of my sites. All in all - this seems to have been a good change for me - and I think a good change for google users because my crappy sites with not such great content have dropped and my better sites with AWESOME! content like this one  have increased in rankings.

Suits me as most of my sites have good content and the ones that don't were really experiments to see if you can get garbage content ranked. Sadly - you can - judging from the amount of garbage I still find when searching but we can hope that - eventually - Big Daddy G gets the results right and the best content floats to the top. I am not holding my breath though.

I see the financial crisis that is all over and never really happened is still doing its thing and I have come to the conclusion never to take anything a government says as the truth ever again. BP has managed to kill everything in the Gulf of Mexico and speaking personally - I think public hangings for the board of directors, senior managers and majority shareholders would not be an over the top response. I will provide the film crew and I am sure some one will come forwards with the rope and gallows. The cocksuckers at Shell are busy poisoning  Africa down in the Niger Delta, and I must admit to feeling a level of utter fucking frustration that I cannot do a damn thing to stop these pieces of shit from killing my planet.

Anyway - back to the non-existent financial crisis. Making money online is one way of going about increasing your income - and make no mistake - if you are not increasing your income - you are getting poorer. I don't know exactly how much money the central bankers can lend to the government Incs before a currency collapses, but I suspect we are going to find out soon. In any case, here are a few suggestions I wrote about at hubpages for making some extra money. Not everyone can do everything but I think there should be something for most people. Apart from the MMO niche - which I have never managed to gain any traction with at hubpages - I have not really tried any of the these niches before, but my gut tells me they will do well at hubpages, largely thanks to their internal linking system. These are my manufactured homes hubs - only 5 so far, but of they pick up, I will do more if I can find any more reasonable keywords:
