I didn’t start this blog to make money, I started it to learn how to make a website/blog and promote myself as a freelance writer. I then got sucked into making more blogs and writing for a few non-paying blogs who were just starting out. I threw a couple of Google and Amazon ads on to the page just to see how it worked. I never even checked to see if I was making any money - I wasn’t interested.

Then one day, I was surfing around, looking for something to write about and went to the Google adsense site. To my surprise, I had made some money. Less than two bucks, but money nonetheless. WooHoo. Big deal. But it made me realise that you can make money from a blog.

So I started to actively look for ways of making money from this and the other blogs that I was running. After a couple of months, I am starting to actually make some money and realise also that there are other people in the same boat as me, so here are the things I have done that do make money, in order of most money made first. And yes, if you click on one of these links and give them money or join, I will make a few cents. And it is literally cents. If you are looking to make a fortune overnight with any of these programs, forget it. - It takes a while.

• Shock horror. When I signed up with these guys I honestly did not expect to get paid. But they do pay - the most I have got for a single post is $12 so far - watch this space, if it goes up, I will tell you. They also pay by paypal within 10 days, unlike Google and Amazon who take months to pay you.

• Yup, people do click on widgets and buy things. When they do, you get a commission.
