Mine used to work and then it stopped working. But I fixed it! I have a Sony Handycam DCR-SX63. There is a little reset button on the camera that you need to push with the tip of a pen or a paper clip. You will have to reset your time zone after it resets but it fixed it for me! It also didn't erase any of my videos on the internal memory, they are all still there and I can upload them to iMovie now! Oh and I'm on a Macbook Pro running 10.5 Hope this helps someone.

I would imagine so. I don't use iMovie though so you may need to check.

So...... after I get this $20 upgrade from Quicktime, will this allow me to use the said videos in iMovie? Or am I still stuck upgrading iMovie, too? The only reason I care to open the videos off of my Sony HandyCam is so that I can edit them in iMovie. Otherwise, I can just save them in my hard drive and upload them directly to YouTube to view them without having to invest a penny.
Thanks!

I have done all the suggestions on this blog. I can play my movies in streamclip, but will I ever be able to play them in Quicktime with sound? I hate Sony too by the way for making this so hard. I have my files but I can't get them to play with any sound except in streamclip. And also streamclip is opening as an external drive. Is that the way it is suppose to be? How come I can't just download it to my applications?

Any help or ideas, thanks.

There are two MPEG STREAMCLIPS to download. A version that cannot connect to YouTube and one that can. If this works and is compatible with iMovie for editing, like you have said it should be, in reply to SHIVAM MISHRA's question, does it really matter which version I download?
